I can’t believe my baby is one! Every mom says this and I know every mom panics a little each birthday as their kids get older. For a moment you have the perspective that life is too short and it needs to be cherished every day. I have officially decided that my motto this year is “you only live once.” There are so many things that as women we want to do, but are scared to do for our own reasons – whether we are scared what other people are going to think or say, whether we just think we don’t have the time, etc. I have decided that I don’t care and I am not going to worry. I am going to set high goals for myself and I am going to accomplish them. Do it with me, make this your motto as well. Here’s to a successful 2012, my friends.

Oh, hey! This much neglected blog is at the top of my goals for 2012. I think it needs a little love, don’t you?

I have a great feeling about 2012 and what it is going to bring for Megan Papworth Photography, for me personally, for my family, and for YOU! Yes, you are the most important. Let’s start it off right with one of my favorite bridal sessions from last year. This was in June. Just 6 months behind on blogging… oh boy!

There was still snow on the mountains in June in Utah. I loved the scenery of this canyon we went up right before dark. Courtney is stunning, isn’t she?

And on a personal note… my baby is now 6 months and sitting up. I can hardly believe it! I took her out this weekend for her 6 month pictures and it was so stinkin’ hot. She got irritated really fast, but we captured that smiley face and those red cheeks.

Hey there! I gave you a little sneak peek of this session a while back and am finally getting around to posting more. Courtney + Skyler were such good sports in the snow. We started at the Salt Lake City Library to stay warm, found a parking garage to sky dry and then had some fun sliding around in the snow. We kept waiting for it to let up, but it never did. It was April. The results were fun and we had a great time regardless!

I am shooting their wedding on Friday, so stay tuned for more of Courtney + Skyler. I love this couple – Courtney is my very best friend from childhood. She is marrying the perfect guy for her and I couldn’t be happier for the both of them! Congratulations you two!

The Thirteenth

I have many loves aside from photography – graphic design, interior design, being a mother, etc. I am constantly trying to find inspiration in my life and love when others share theirs with me. That is what is so great about the blogging world!

My sister-in law Sarah and I wanted to collaborate and create a place where we can share things that inspire us on a daily basis. The premise is to share all things creative, whether it be great or small, and hope that it will be useful to our readers in some way, shape or form. It’s called the Thirteenth.

Today I posted about my favorite macro lens adapter. I will be sharing MANY photography tips and trick over onthe Thirteenth blog, so check it out and feel free to follow along.

Ruby Jane

Sorry for the absence here on the blog. Sometimes life needs your attention in other areas, you know?

Meet Ruby Jane. She is the daughter of one of my sweet friends Ani. Ruby and Rowan were born just a week apart. Rowan can’t wait to meet her. Ruby was diagnosed with liver failure at 3 months old (this past March). She is currently waiting on a donor liver and getting treatment from the best doctors at UCLA medical center. With all that is happening, you can imagine all of the hospital bills that are adding up quickly!

I think of Ruby everyday. I think about how difficult Ani and Matt’s trial is and how much they would just love to be at home living with their 2 cute daughters, not worrying about just making it through the day at the hospital. I cry as I hold my own baby. And all we can do it pray… and donate what we can.

Julie from Stella and Dot is having a week long fundraiser in honor of Ruby. She needs our help!

Snowy Sneak Peek

Hi there! I hope everyone had a great Easter holiday – mine was spent recovering from an unexpected surgery. Sounds fun, right?!

I flew up to Utah a couple of weekends ago to shoot my best friend, Courtney’s, engagement pictures. What we thought we were going to get was beautiful spring weather, but instead, we got snow! It never let up the day of our shoot, but we didn’t let that stop our fun. Here’s just a little glimpse at our winter wonderland. Wishing I could share more, but I have to wait until the invites are sent out. Looking forward to the wedding in June!

From AZ to LA

BIG NEWS over here… Megan Papworth Photography is moving to Los Angeles!! We are SO EXCITED for this new adventure and to expand our client base, but want to make sure that our Arizona clients know that we aren’t ditching anyone! We head out in August, but will be back every other month or so to keep our current and new Arizona clients happy – no worries! We are super excited to explore California and get to know new people.

It’s amazing to think back and see how far we’ve come over the last two years. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who allow us to do what we love. We have made some amazing friends and can’t wait for the years ahead!
